IT set-up information

The University’s principal HR system is PeopleXD (previously known as CoreHR).

What is PeopleXD?

PeopleXD is a personnel, payroll, e-Recruitment, training administration and self-service package supplied by The Access Group.

What does this mean for you?

For users of PeopleXD, there are a number of requirements of local IT to ensure that they are able to access all the necessary functionality. This means that system users may require your support in using PeopleXD successfully.

Users of PeopleXD require a copy of their departmental letterhead template to be saved locally (as a Word document) in a specified location on their PC. This file must be created with user privileges allowing for Read, Write and Execution. To create the required folders please follow the instructions below:

  1. Create the folder C:\Coreapps on the local PC giving the user Read, Write and Execute privileges to the folder and its contents.
  2. Within C:\Coreapps save the departmental letterhead as a Word document with the filename Letter_head.docx

Please Note:

  • If a user works with more than one letterhead, they will need to overwrite the Letter_head.docx file with the required template on each use.
  • Users will require access to the following path C:\Users\[User's single sign-on]\Appdata\Local\Temp\

The PeopleXD letter templates have macros embedded within them to enable them to bring in the departmental letterhead and generate prompts. For this functionality to work, Microsoft Word must be set to as detailed below:

Go to the File tab  Options  Trust Centre  Trust Centre Settings. Select ‘Disable all Macros with Notification'. Click OK.

Unable to generate correspondence

The failure to generate mail merge documents is usually due to errors in the naming of the files and folders within C:\Coreapps. It is imperative that all files and folders are named exactly as stated above and saved to the indicated location. The configuration of file locations within PeopleXD is case sensitive and this is often the main reason for issues.
